Tim brings an extensive background of over 20 years of leadership in sales, marketing and general management to the firm and to searches in the Consumer Goods and Services, Agribusiness and Direct Marketing sectors in particular. His consulting focuses on CEO and other senior level recruiting across a range of industries and disciplines.
After learning and then modeling best practices in executive search at the premier firm Spencer Stuart, Tim founded Burgess Leighton & Associates to provide a more customer intimate and alliance partnership approach to clients. Hallmarks of this service include a personal stake in the performance of candidate placements and a broader range of talent-related consulting. Although Burgess Leighton is an independent firm, it is aligned with similar firms operated by fellow Spencer Stuart alumni in key markets across the U.S. so as to leverage the combined knowledge, experience, contacts and relationships of the group.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Tim served in a number of senior positions at Coca-Cola both domestically and abroad. Specifically, he led key domestic national sales efforts after a successful tour with Coca-Cola in Europe. Previously for Coca-Cola USA, he managed various marketing departments and held regional sales positions throughout the U.S. Before Coca-Cola Tim had been general manager of a forestry and agriculture business in south Georgia. Earlier in his career he served with the lobbying arm of the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Congressional Relations.
Tim earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his M.B.A. from Emory University’s Goizueta School of Business. He has lived and worked in Germany and Poland and speaks fluent German and French.
